4. Rain dear to Andal--exposition of Vishistadvaita

திருப்பாவை பாசுரம் 4
ஆழிமழைக் கண்ணா! ஒன்று நீ கைகரவேல்
     ஆழியுள் புக்கு முகந்து கொடார்த்தேரி
ஊழி முதல்வன் உருவம் போல் மெய் கறுத்துப்
     பாழியந் தோளுடைப் பத்மநாபன் கையில்
ஆழிபோல் மின்னி, வலம்புரிபோல் நின்று அதிர்ந்து
     தாழாதே சார்ங்க முதைத்த சரமழை போல்
வாழ உலகினில் பெய்திடாய் நாங்களும்
     மார்கழி நீராட மகிழ்ந்து ஏல் ஓர் எம்பாவாய்.

ஆழியுள் - சமுத்திரத்திற்குள்; ஆர்த்து - இடி இடித்து;
ஆழிமழைக் கண்ணா - கடல்போல் கருணை உள்ளம் படைத்த தலைவனான வருணனே,
         கண் பொன்றவனே; அண்ணனே;
கைகரவேல் - ஒழிக்கக் கூடாது; ஆழி - சக்கரம்; வலம்புரி - பாஞ்ச ஜன்ய சங்கு;
சார்ங்கம் - சாரங்க வில்; தாழாது - கால தாமதம் செய்யாமல்;

Pasuram 4 - English Translation

Oh! Rain! Gracious alike ocean, pupil of my eye;
     Thou shalt never flout this attitude
Enter sea, emerge replete, ascend a mass dark in space;
     Colour a la form of Lord Eternal, Let lightning flash
Thunder shoot as wheel and dextrogyral
     In the hands of Padmanabha, His arms a fortitude;
Brook no delay, force a cloud burst;
     Pour down as would darts from Sarnga lash
     To facilitate life on earth bright;
     And the Margali bath to our delight;
     Listen and consider, our damsel.

Pasuram 4 - Tradución de español

¡Ah! ¡Deidad de La lluvia¡ ¡Que llueva en abundancia!
     Que el cielo succione el agua del océano profundo
Y Ascienda una masa oscura en el espacio;
     Que un relámpago destelle tan brillante como el disco sagrado del
                                  omnipotente
Que el trueno suene tan fuerte como la concha del todopoderoso;
     Que llueva tan prontocomo la fecha parta del arco divino
Que La lluvia tenga que facilitar la prosperidad en nuestra vida
     Y para que haya agua en abundancia en todas partes
Para ducharnos alegremente durante Margali

மாயனை மன்னு வடமதுரை மைந்தனைத்
     தூய பெருநீர் யமுனைத் துறைவனை
ஆயர் குலத்தினில் தோன்றும் அணி விளக்கைத்
     தாயைக் குடல் விளக்கஞ் செய்த தாமோதரனை
தூயோமாய் வந்து நாம் தூமலர் தூவித் தொழுது
     வாயினால் பாடி மனத்தினால் சிந்திக்க
போய பிழையும் புகுதருவான் நின்றனவும்
     தீயினில் தூசாகும் செப்பு ஏல் ஓர் எம்பாவாய்.

மாயன் - மாய வித்தை செய்பவன்; மந்திரக் காரன்; மறைந்திருப்பவன்;
         ஏமாற்றுபவன்; விநோதன்; மாய நிறமுடையவன்; மேகவண்ணன்;
மன்னு - நிலைத்துள்ள; புகுதருவான் நின்றனவும் - பின்பு ( நம்மை அறியாமல் ) வருபவையும்;

Pasuram 5 - English Translation

The elusive son of blooming North Mathura;
     Riverman de facto of grand Yamuna pure;
Appear'd in Ayar tribe a glow lamp and
     Brought sanctity to mother's womb;
If we reach pure, shower fine flower and
     Worship Him, Damodara the Lure;
With song in lips, mind engross'd,
     The sins committed deliberate or inadvertent
     In the past, present and future entire
     Shall be burnt a refuse in bonfire;
     Prithee, listen and consider, our damsel.

Pasuram 5 - Tradución de español

El hijo esquivo del lugar prospero Mathura;
     El que jugaba en el rio sagrado Yamuna
También Nacido en la tribu Ayar como una lámpara brillante
     Y por esto Había traído honor a su madre Yashodha;
Se llama Dhamodharan y también Kannan
     Si ofreciéramos las flores a su pie con pureza
Si cantáramos y meditáramos su gloria
     Nuestros pecados del presente, pasado y futuro no nos afectarían;
Desaparecerían como los desechos desaparecerían en una hoguera;
     Por eso Cantad su nombre siempre
     Como nuestra damisela aconseja a todas las muchachas.

புள்ளும் சிலம்பின காண் புள்ளரையன் கோயிலில்
     வெள்ளை விளிசங்கின் பேரரவம் கேட்டிலையோ?
பிள்ளாய் எழுந்திராய்! பேய்முலை நஞ்சுண்டு
     கள்ளச் சகடம் கலக் கழியக் காலோச்சி
வெள்ளத் தரவில் துயில் அமர்ந்த வித்தினை
     உள்ளத்துக் கொண்டு முனிவர்களும் யோகிகளும்
மெள்ள எழுந்து அரியென்ற பேரரவம்
     உள்ளம் புகுந்து குளிர்ந்து ஏல் ஓர் எம்பாவாய்.

புள்ளும் - பறவைகளும்; சிலம்பின - கூவிக் கொண்டுள்ளன; கலக்கு அழிய - கட்டுக் குலையும்படி

Pasuram 6 - English Translation

Behold! Birds clanged; whitish conch
     At the abode of eagle's king is blaring;
Won't thou listen? Lassie arise!
     Poison, He sucked from devil' s breast
Kicked deftly the treacherous cart, to a shatter
     On the serpent alighted in ocean had set sleeping;
Kept this seed in mind, monks and yogis
     Arise gently and Hari they mumble;
     This chant pierces the mind as a rumble;
     Awakens and enthuses like a roar to assemble
     Listen and consider, our damsel.

Los pájaros están despiertos y gorjeando
     ¿No oísteis el sonido de la concha del templo de la deidad
Donde vive el pájaro mítico, Garuda?
     ¡Oíd, Muchachas! Despertaos temprano y adorad al omnipotente
Que bebió la leche de la mama venenosa de un demonio femenino,
     Que mató al demonio Sakatasura que vino en forma de rueda
Que está descansando en el océano de leche sagrado
     Que es la semilla del universo
Que es adorado por los ascetas y los sabios
     Cuyos cantos del dios Hari entran nuestro corazón dando bienaventuranza
